Cleveland Cavaliers - Williams to The King

I've always been a fan of basketball, right now I'm rooting for the Cleveland Cavaliers. All because of LeBron James. For me he is the top NBA athlete of his generation. I think he is an all around player, he gets triple doubles which is really rare for a player who can turn on the heat and score 50 plus points a game.

I'm just sharing at the same time trying out how to embed videos on a blog and here is one of them.

Pepper Lunch

This is one of our favorite restaurants here in Australia. They serve beef, chicken, salmon cooked in a hot plate. All you need to do is add some sweet and garlic soy sauce and you are ready to go.

But, I've noticed this as I was paying for our orders in the counter.

This aside, I still go back to this restaurant to enjoy now my favorite "Beef Curry". You should all try this out, I believe Pepper Lunch is also available in the Philippines in Rockwell. Here in Australia it is near Town Hall station just walk to George Street just close to Paul's Warehouse.

The Real Sydney Olympic Park

I was fortunate to again visit Sydney Olympic Park. The title says "The Real", its not that the previous post I did was not real but this time its THE Olympic Park where all the games were held back in 2000.

I went here to drop my wife on a Craft Expo, she loves craft specially scrap booking you might want to visit her blog through this link and see how creative she is.

It was a long 3 to 4 hours wait outside THE DOME which is where the Craft Expo took place. So me and little Harvey walked our way around the Olympic Park. Mind you I didn't think we were even close to completely tour around the place. It was hard specially if first you don't know which places you would need to visit and second you don't have a map.

I think Sydney Olympic Park is a great place to visit, you'll see a lot of memories from the 2000 Olympics done here in Sydney. Lots of names engraved here and there. So here are my takes on this nice place.

The ANZ Stadium, if only I was not lazy enough to retake this picture next time making sure the whole name of ANZ Stadium appears this would have been perfect for me.

Here is the Acer Arena, where the concerts are held. From the posters I saw "Smackdown" and "Kelly Clarkson" will be held here.

There is this huge ladder almost taller than the Hotel near it.
A huge fountain, where kids are actually taking a shower. Yes kids do take a dip on fountains be it huge or small they simply think its fun. I'd love to try it sometime.

Manly Beach - Sydney Australia

It was the 1st of January 2010. When we were able to visit Manly Beach in Sydney. This is the first beach we visited as a family. Its quite small and full of waves. Yep, unlike back in the Philippines where in most beaches don't have much waves, in Sydney beaches have huge waves that's why surfing is quite popular here.

Before going to the beach we had our first breakfast of the year, I got my self the "BIG ONE".

Sydney's - Luna Park

One common attraction in Sydney is Luna Park. Luna Park is a carnival with many rides and it is worth visiting when you are in Sydney.

The entrance is free, so all you have to worry about is the rides passes. Here is the list of the prices when I last visited.

Sydney @ Night

Last Friday Night I was invited to shoot the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The experience was really great, the weather as usual was cold brrrr. Shooting at night requires you to shoot with long shutter speed to have great effects on the light. Good thing my new found friends lent me their tripod. Here are some of the pictures I got, I'm not sure if the pixels are really the effect of long exposure but this is the first time I'm posting pics I did not edit using lightroom. Hope you still like it.

Sydney Olympic Park

As you might already know Australia has a lot of parks for the family. This is one great thing about this country, you'll see parks left and right where you could share the whole morning and afternoon with family and friends. Last Sunday, Nat, Cherrie, Maku and I got to visit Wentworth Common. A park near the Sydney Olympic Park, yup this was where the Olympics was held way back .... man don't expect me to know hehehe.

Anyway, we weren't able to tour the Olympic park itself. But, here is a view of the Wentworth Community center.

Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge

What's new? It has been a while again since I last updated my blog. After almost 3 months here I finally landed my first job and boy was the job market really tough. With a lot of prayers from my family, friends and myself I finally was able to find a job that fits my experience.

So much for my job hunting experience :). I posted today to show you some of my shots of the Opera house and Harbour bridge. If you plan of visiting Sydney these two are one of the must sees. It's easy to go to accessible by Bus, Train, Feiry and Taxis you just drop by Circular Quay and you'll be able to walk around the Opera House and see Harbour bridge from a nice angle.

You might want to visit the inside of the Opera House as I've heard it has a great view from inside as well. Never got the time to see it though. Here is my take.

Hillsong Church

Last weekend, I got to go to a dedication party for Baby Matthew. We went to Hillsong Church in Windsor hope I got it right :).

The place and the people are so friendly and the way they celebrate is totally fun. The place is so huge like a theater and the people are so nice they are so accommodating.

I wish someday I could bring Cookie and Harvey there. I just got to shot only a few pics here they are.

Darling Harbour - Sydney

Wow finally after a week here in Sydney, I got to visit the city. Thanks to Jon and Janice for the tour. I started my journey from the Hornsby train station to Wollstonecraft Station where Jon picked me up.

After dropping by their house we went to Sydney CBD, and then walked our way around to the Market City, Darling Harbour and our last stop QVB (Queen Victoria Building). Touring the city is quite a walk; after a week stay at home I guess my feet were new again to walking long distances.

I tried walking from Net Square Taguig to our House in Pasay after office; the walk has ok but the pollution no way. That is why it’s just a one time deal.

Anyway, back to the story line. Darling harbour had lots of ships from sails, to sub and even old ships you'll see it in the slide below. They also have a lot of tourists because this is one of the tourist stops.

We ate at Market City; this is like our Tutuban Center or Greenhills. There are lots of cheap souvenir items, winter clothes, shades and so on. I got to comeback here sometime hehehe. I can't wait to bring Cookie and Harvey to this place.

Now, in QVB the architecture design is really old and very well maintained. They have Italian shops inside and if I may say the high end shops you get to see in G5.

A visit to Crosslands Reserve

Today we went to one of the nearby parks here in Hornsby. I'm not sure what the park is named at but the signage says "Crosslands Reserve". Here in Australia every suburb has their own parks where families get to play around and eat Barbie (Oz slang for BBQ).

You'll need to travel at least 2.5km from the gate to reach this beautiful playground.

Here are some of my shots on the place.

As you can see from the slide, the place is full of trees and fresh air indeed. You also get to grill your Barbie for free with the utilities like benches, electric grill, toilet and water. See for yourself.

All you need to bring now is your food, wow Nat prepared yummy burger patties. We enjoyed it a lot see some of the pics below, I'm pretty sure you would.

Australia really tries to preserve wild life, in the park you get to see these birds and ducks.

I just can't wait for my beloved wife and son to join me here and play on this park.

Nice Bird You Got There

I was trying to get some sun outside the terrace to ease the cold a little bit. Then I saw this bird feeding on the tree leaves. Amazing huh, yep here in Australia the birds are a little different and free compared to us there in the Philippines. In the Philippines we only have the maya bird and pigeon. In Australia they, have different kinds of birds flying around the neighborhood. In the Philippines you could only see this kind of bird in the cage, poor little birdie. Oh, I almost forgot you’re not allowed to feed them here. At night they fly in groups, so watch out for that falling poop hehehe. Here is my take.

Hornsby

After a few days here in Australia I was only able to look around the nearby mall Westfield and some streets here in Hornsby. Man the weather is too damn cold I would rather stay inside the house. Anyways, here are some pics which I'm not really that proud off I took them so quickly I was not able to make some adjustments.

Yesterday was my first time to eat out of the house. We went to a nearby mall "Westfield" in Hornsby; it was so close you can walk to the mall from where I'm currently staying here in Australia.

Nat, Maku and I went to the food court and we passed through all the food shops. Being a newbie I decided I'll just follow where ever Nat decides to eat hehehe.

He chose to eat at this new store Mr. Tepan. The food there is just like the Mongolian BBQ back in the Philippines, there is a twist you first choose which combo you would want Chicken, Beef, Pork, and Vegetable and so on; To be safe I chose Vegetable after seeing the brocolli on the picture on the menu. Another thing is you get to choose the sauce there is Cream, Tomato and some others; To be safe again I chose Tomato hehehe.

The meal cost around AUD 6.90 and I ordered a bottle of Mineral water costing AUD 2.90. You might want to recheck the price hehe I don't think I got it right.

After ordering they gave us this black plate, wow high tech if your order is ready this black plate will vibrate and its time for you to pick it up. How ignorant can you be mate hehe.

So here are the pictures of the food, not so good after taking up the photography class. It’s really hard to take a picture of a food you’re already dying to eat so you'll need to take a picture immediately without the proper settings hehehe. Enjoy!!! I'm sure I did yum yum.

Our Club Manila East Adventure

Last Friday, our whole team went out for our team building. Yep you read it right, it was a FRIDAY. Imagine that instead of working 8 hours in the office we were treated a day off to swim, chat, play and eat.

The trip to CME took only less than an hour. We rented two cabanas for the team for only Php 2500 this is good for 5 pax. You would need to pay additional per head.

The place is clean; in fact so clean I drank a lot of water from the pool. Not on purpose of course, it was because of the Big Waves wooohooo. This is the first time I've encountered waves in the pool and it is all worth it. We enjoyed being slammed by the wave, especially when we were trying to reach the walls around 10 feet high like doing a slam-dunk.

You can also try their surfing lessons, quite expensive though that’s Php 1500 for 2 hours of lessons. My son would have loved it there too bad I did not bring them along I was worried he might get sick.

CME also has this high walls for diving, I would have loved to jump only that the water from the jumping areas is 14 feet yaiks, better sure than sorry I jumped only on the kiddie pool hahaha.

Hey, I almost forgot to mention the kid side in me and my teammates have never left as we went on to slide on their 3-loop slide. It was fun but the rush in sliding is not really that exhilarating I wish I could try a 60-degree free fall slide if there is any.

Here are some photos of the place. This is the way to the big waves where you can surf. On the left side you'll see the stable haha not for the horse its like a prison cell for people to secure their things ;)

A picture of a bridge, they seem to be fixing and still improving the facilities so we were not able to try swimming underneath this bridge.

Here are some shots of the pool and slide, on this side you could also kayak for free just go there early to avoid the long line.

I'm not quite sure I liked the weather during that day, as it was all so sunny, compared to some rains here in Manila. It would have been nicer if there were some rain while swimming.

For this final photo I got the concept from a friend where you take a static background and pose as many times and combine it in photoshop just avoid overlapping for easier cutting of the images.

Spiders, Bees, Flowers and more

When we were in Lao-ang we visited a place called Muntay. The place is filled with BUKO trees, we were deligthed to drink fresh buko juice.

While drinking juice we were also greeted by mosquitos and bees. Here is a shot of a spider feeding bees for miryenda.

We visited this beach twice imagine that?, since it is just a tricycle away from our place in Lao-ang.

Harvey enjoyed a lot and did not even mind the heat of the sun. So we did turn out like toast. Here is a pic of Harvey's toy boat.

And a pic of a tricycle in Laoang, I believe every province has there own style of tricycles in the Philippines.

And one of those lucky shots, I was able to shoot a rain drop woohoo, I have to post this ultra large hehe so you can see the droplet clearly.

Lao-ang Northern Samar Scenery

Its been a long and HAPPY Holy Week for me and my family. We got to go home to my wife's home town Lao-ang Northern Samar. The trip was so worth it as we were able to visit our family and at the same time have our Harvey enjoy the beach there.

During late afternoon I was able to shoot some of these shots and with the help of Lightroom was able to give some drama to it, here it is hope you like it.

I specially like this one with a fisherman on the right side.

I was one o the lucky few who got invited in this Photo Session "Natural Lighting and Food & Portrait Photography" conducted by Master Mike Mariano. The event was sponsored by Pixel Pro Inc., they are a retail shop of a wide range of photographic equipments from point and shoots to digital SLRs, you can find Pixel Pro at V-359 3rd Floor, V-Mall Greenhills Shopping Center.

We got treated with a sumptous lunch courtesy of Dencio's, after the lecture we got to try out our newly acquired skills. I got to admit shooting foods freely is a lot more fun :). Here is my take on food phtography.

My Crocs adventure at the MegaTent

Whew!!!! I can't believe we made it, hehehe. Cookie read a blog from her friend BJAY about this MEGA CROCS sale upto 80% off at the MegaTent in Meralco Ave. Pasig City. I am person who doesn't really like crowds and I don't like traffic at all. My way to overcome all these is to set my expectations as early as possible, considering this is the last day of the sale. Just before going I already set my mind that we will go through a lot of traffic, we will go through miles and miles of lines before I can achieve my ultimate goal. That is owning my very first CROCS, I had to admit CROCS is quite expensive that is why this sale is worth all the drips and drips of salty waters leaving my body hahaha.

As expected, just in time upon arriving at the venue we were stuck in traffic. Geez, cars are not giving way so I suggested my family to go down while I park away from the venue. At last, I was able to park at the Exchange St., quite a walk to MegaTent. And just before arriving at the place rain started to pour, I could just imagine the situation of my family without any umbrella. Good thing, they were able to stay at a covered place. Now, comes the second part of the challenge the long line right before you could even reach the entrance of the tent. After, a barbeque and a soda and change in weather from rain to sunny. We were able to get in wooohooo. I immediately grabbed a plastic bag which is used to store everything your planning to buy just before lining in again to pay in the cashier.

We were grabbing CROCS left and right. The strategy (wooohooo finally was able to use this word) there was to get as much CROCS with your size as possible and when your done go to a corner and its time to fit, hehehe. After fitting and choosing the right pair its time for the 3rd challenge which is the snake like line to the cashier.

The line was sooooo looooong and with the air-condition not really working that much, you feel like you are in a desert. I started to feel dizzy, and I asked for water. Cookie was trying to give me Harvey's feeding bottle to just give it a sip. I decided, I'd rather faint here than people seeing me drink from a baby bottle bwehehehee. After a while, Cookie and my Sister finally decided to buy some drinks and at last just when I was about to lose hope ahhhhh Pepsiiiii. After a few more minutes it was my turn on the cashier at long last the finish line woohohoo, and then the 4th challenge, sir your total bill is Php++++, HUWAATT!!!! Php++++ wehehehe.

The overall experience was really not bad after all I got to spend time with my family, and not to mention spend a lot wahahaha, also was able to meet a lot of people (although I didn't really now them personally hehehe) and to achieve my ultimate goal that is to get my first pair of CROCS, here is a pic I got from the net. This CROCS is an Islander CROCS previously worth Php 2900, got this for only Php 840 quite the catch huh?

Ow!!! here is another one, hehehe I figured going through that line and traffic its not worth it buy just 1 pair bwahahaha. This is a venture canvas CROCS this was previously worth a whopping Php 3700, got this for only woooohooo Php 740.
I love my new CROCS and I think my wife and kid also love theres too ;).

Glimpse of Manila American Cemetery and Memorial

Yesterday, I got a chance to go to Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, the place was so nice and clean. I just had to shoot like crazy, I was in cloud nine because of the nice views all around.

Here is my take on the place. I plan to go back one of these days, because I only had less than 30 mins to shoot pictures. The place strictly closes at 5pm, for more info of the place click this link.

I highly recommend to come visit the place, for those interested in travelling and taking photos this is a great place to go. Ow did I mention the entrance is FREE.

Today, I was a little stressed with work. So, I decided to take a breather and take some photos of some of the things I have on my desk.

In this photo, I set my focus on the motorcycle to blur out the rest on its back.

For this one, I focused my depth of field on the car, see the blur on the motorcycle and the background?

My MOA Valentine

These photos were taken last saturday, yup Valentines day. We were about to go home, when I noticed that the parking area was a good place to shoot. Although I had a difficult time because of low lighting that is why the images are a little harsh, but it somehow fit the editing I've done using Lightroom.

Sony Erickson - W760i

Last night was different, I was not the LAZY me so I stood up and grabbed my camera and started shooting again. I figured I should stop and make photography not just a fad but a hobby. This time I'll make sure I'll start learning again. I put my aim on my Sony Erickson W760i and here is what I came up with. Some macro shots I took with the help of a little ligthing from our lamp. I'm not sure if the lighting and settings is right though hehe, but I think I did fine from my low standards hehehe.

Here is a shot of the 3.2 Megapixel Camera, though the high MP does not include any auto focus compared to the cameras of the K7++ series, this camera can do the work. Also, I did'nt quite liked the color (GOLD yaiks) do you? hehe

Did I mention this is a walkman phone? Yup, you can listen to your MP3s with High quality sound and the unit also includes an awesome Sony earphones. This phone is also equipped with the Radio function so you can listen to your favorite radio station mine is RX93.1 specifically the "Morning Rush" by Chico and DelaMar.

This phone comes in three colors, Red, Silver and Grey. As a rating from 1 to 10 for the phone I give it an 8, hey my standards are low hehehe. The important thing is I can call and text, ooops did I mention that this phone is equipped with the latest comms technology its using HSPDA .

Kings of the road…

Hey hey I’m back, it’s been quite some time before I had the time and guts to update my blog. But, hey I’m back and I am ready to start blogging again. This could be the first time that I’ll be blogging with much less pictures or none compared to my previous blogs. I just want to let it out people hehehe.

My topic for today is about the KINGS of the road here in the Philippines. Are we on the same wavelength? Are you thinking what I am thinking? In here the KINGS are non other than the jeepney, taxi and bus drivers. Yep, read up people cause here is my share of rants on this KINGS of the ROAD.

Numero uno, don’t you just love it when Busses swerve from the public lane to the private lane? Last month, we just heard from the news of an actor beating up the poor BUS driver. Poor driver, why does he have to suffer such greivance? Well my take is the BUS driver must have deserved it, probably he just swerved away from left to right or which ever way he wanted because hey he might be thinking I’m driving a big BUS bump me and who ends up wrecked.

Numero dos, we all are born competitive. I confess I myself don’t like to be overtaken by any of these KINGS of the road. Ever experienced jeepneys swimming through traffic like lint, yep they are that good no doubt about it. But, after squeaking through that tiny hole they suddenly STOP, wow isn’t that amusing he decided to pick up people right in the middle of the street. Why bother overtaking if you would stop anyway and block the road, BEEEEEEEEP2X and probably more BEEP hehehe, move out of the way!!!!!

Numero tres, drivers should think of SAFETY first, especially if you are a professional driver your passengers safety is the utmost priority. But, damn these drivers I don’t think they are THINKING of safety in fact I don’t think they do think at all hahaha. Imagine yourself riding a 20 to 30 years old jeep you can even see some rust already have eaten up at least ¼ of the whole body, and damn the driver drives like crazy taking up 60 to 80kph. Do you even have brake people, ow yeah sorry you do have breaks double pump it or may be just tripple pump that break just to be sure. Best thing you passengers could do is hold on tight enjoy the ride, its just like the roller coaster anyway.

That would probably be it for now as I’m starting to have a headache thinking on how to out wit these KINGS of the ROAD.

Every year Red Ribbon Bakeshop has graced us with new, delicious and delightful cakes concoctions, last night I was one of the lucky ones who was able to taste another work of art from Red Ribbon. This year they are introducing "The Coffee Walnut Bavarian" cake, I'm not really a cake lover but this cake surely delivers specially when paired with Brewed Coffee yum yum yum.

Honda Motors in MOA

Last Friday night we visited MOA to buy some stuffs. We were walking along and taking pictures of Harvey with the huge Christmas tree that was installed on the middle of MOA. Then, I notice this exhibit of Honda motorcycles; I did not really dive in to have a look as what I saw first was the usual Honda Waves and Brave models.
But, when I went to the other side of the exhibit, man o man there was this line up of BIG bikes, here are some of the photos I took.

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL - MOVIE

Keanu Reeves has a new movie coming, it is a remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film about an alien visitor and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth. Checkout their homepage through this link "The day the earth stood still" and some more info through wikipedia.

Just recently, I saw the posters of Keanu in EDSA and my imaginative mind lit like a 100Watt bulb and here is what I came up with:

Last friday bloggers were treated to yet another wonderful event sponsored by
Fully Booked in partnership with Yehey. We were given the chance to tour the 5 storey building, which included a coffee shop:

, a basement full of comics (hehehe my favorite spot) and a mini theater which can accomodate 50 pax they call it U-View.

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf - MOA

Last tuesday night, we took off to MOA and visit CBTL. Harvey obviously did not drink any coffee, but he was the most hyper of us all.

All Souls Day @ Loyola Memorial Park Marikina

Last November 2nd, we went to visit my wifes lolo in Loyola Memorial Park Marikina.

Dinosaurs in Taguig

I had these pictures for quite sometime now, they were taken in Taguig last September.

Harvey as usual is posing like crazy :) To my cameras delight, here are some of the photos.

AHHHHH DINOSAUR!!! (I should have placed the name, but gee I forgot wahaha), one thing you should know about me is that I'm a really forgetful person.

Harvey loves fries, well who doesn't :), I got this from my photo archive, it was taken on our parking area when he was playing with his kuya JO. After some tiring play its time for a snack, what better snack than a crispy and hot McDonalds french fries. Come to think of it, I may need to eat some later :)

There was this one time in RACKS Magallanes!!!!

I just have to post this picture of Harvey,this was taken when we ate at Racks Magallanes.

We had the classic baby back ribs, which was really soooo tasty. The meat was so soft, damn I did not realize I even ate the ribs itself.

That was when I realize I was eating a powderly like substance, and bhaaaam it stuck me it was the RIBS!!!. That's how they cook it even the ribs turn out so soft and edible.

As for Harvey we ordered him Fish and Fries. With the big servings, we had to take home the left over.

Harvey, was busy eating and coloring but as usual when its picture time you can always count on a huge smile and celebrity like pose.

I had to do some editing to put some effect hope you like it.

What a better way to start a blog than to introduce my family...

Meet my family, my wife Cookie and little boy Harvey.

My wife is a scrapper she even have her own blog which you can visit through this link http://cookieaguilar.blogspot.com/, you'll see how creative she is with all page and designs she has created (I had some fair share on those, wahehehe just kidding).

And, as you can see my son Harvey. You can't even see the eyes but this is what we call "ALL OUT" smile. Smiling lips and eyes. He is growing up to be an entertainer (hehe) loves to dance and act. And as the Madagascar movie goes he likes to "MOVE IT MOVE IT".

As for me I'm the one taking the photo, I'm trying hard to be a photographer, as in trying hard haha I've been to Basic Photography classes twice already but still trying.

Well, there is this old saying "TRY AND TRY", and try and try until you realize that is what life has to offer....
